Türkiye urges global action to end “Israeli aggression”

ISTANBUL, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) — Türkiye on Friday called on the international community to halt Israel’s “aggression,” stressing that true peace in the Middle East can only be achieved by addressing Israeli actions.
“The path to achieving peace and tranquility in the Middle East lies in curbing Israel’s reckless actions,” Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at a joint press conference with Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic in Istanbul.
Fidan urged the international community to pressure Israel to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and prevent Palestinians from facing starvation.
“I call on those who offer unconditional support to Israel and the countries that continuously supply arms to it. The party responsible for escalating the tension is crystal clear. Stop attributing the consequences to the wrong parties,” he said.
“Those who provide unconditional support to Israel are complicit in the massacre in Gaza,” Fidan added.
On Wednesday, Türkiye submitted its application to the International Court of Justice to join a genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel. ■
